Associate of Science Degree in Health Information Management

Students in Sullivan's online Associate Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) program can begin their career by earning a Certificate in coding. Along with an American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) credential, the medical coding certificate prepares you for jobs in all types of medical facilities--inpatient and outpatient--and other industry-related positions such as insurance companies and government agencies.

Health Information Technology (HIT) professionals with an Associate Degree pursue registration through the AHIMA as registered health information technicians (RHIT). RHITs are responsible for the quality of health information in acute care hospitals, physician offices, and other outpatient facilities.

Students in this program study diagnosis and procedure coding, health information management, healthcare reimbursement, legal aspects of health information, and health information technology.
