Sullivan University recently hosted the International
Caterers Association's (ICA) first ever professional catering chefs'
continuing education symposium entitled "CaterArts.” The event brought
more than 90 of the top professional caterers to Sullivan from all
across the United States, Bahamas and Canada. CaterArts included
professional development from panel discussions hosted by Baking &
Pastry Chair, Chef Derek Spendlove, CEPC, CCE, AAC; Chef Instructors
Danielle Demare, CSC; Katie Payne, CSC; Rob Beighey, CEC, AAC, and many
distinguished chefs and caterers. Attendees also enjoyed Woodford
Reserve bourbon tasting and pairings . . . and everything in between for
professional caterers to take home fresh ideas for their clients'
events.
Chef Kimberely Jones, CEC, CPCE, Sullivan's chair of the
Professional Catering program, who serves on the board of the ICA and
was also a presenter, said, "As the only university offering a
professional degree program in catering, it just made sense for us to
bring all the experts together for this symposium. We are looking
forward to expanding the professionalism of caterers for many years to
come."
