Master of Science in Conflict Management graduate, Nicole Gallo, recently spent six months volunteering with the Africa Inland Mission in Rundu, Namibia. Nicole, who is also the daughter of Math Chair Dr. Margie Gallo, said her time with the mission was such an amazing experience, and she enjoyed learning about a different culture and having the opportunity to serve some really incredible kids. Nicole said she was in awe of the resilience of these children and their great capacity to love.
Moreover, Nicole had an opportunity to use her conflict management skills several times
while she was in Namibia. First, she assisted a local social worker and facilitated a few meetings. Second, when one family was dealing with extreme tension, conflict, and miscommunication, she was able to use the skills she learned in the MSCM program to help them resolve their conflicts. Finally, Nicole was asked to meet with the Director of a school in the capitol of Windhoek to discuss strategies for addressing conflict in the school. Nicole said it was exciting to be able to utilize what she learned at Sullivan, and the MSCM program proved to be extremely useful on her mission trip.
Nicole is an inspiration, and we are proud that she is a graduate of the MSCM program at Sullivan University.
