Parking Information

Rules & Regulations

Any car without a valid permit parked on campus will be ticketed, immobilized, and/or towed at the owner's expense.

Housing students are not permitted to park on the Sullivan University Main Campus, West Campus, West Campus or any Sullivan University controlled property.

Parking Permit:

All students who utilize Sullivan University parking areas must have a valid parking permit. Students who withdraw from the University will not receive a refund for future quarters of parking already paid for. (For prices, see Permit Fees below). There are five types of permits for campus parking:

1. Student Permits
2. Disabled Permits
3. Future Student Permits
4. Visitor Permits
5. Temporary Permits

Student Permits:
Student Permits may be purchased from the Accounting Office.

Disabled Permits:
Students who utilize the disabled parking areas must have a valid Student Permit (see above) along with their state issued Disabled Permit. Disabled Placard Registration must be verified by Public Safety Staff.

Future Student & Visitor Permits:
Future Student and Visitor Permits are given out by the Receptionist in the Visitor's Lobby.

Temporary Permits:
Temporary Permits can be obtained through the Student Services Office. You must display a Temporary Permit if you:

-Arrive on campus without your regular parking permit
-Don't have a parking permit
-Have driven an un-registered vehicle to school

Placement of Permit:

Student, Disabled, Future Student, & Visitor Permits:
Student, Disabled, Future Student, and Visitor Permits should be hung from the rearview mirror. If you do not have a rearview mirror, place the permit on the vehicle's dashboard, where it is clearly visible to the Department of Public Safety staff.

Temporary Permits:
Temporary Permits should be hung from the rearview mirror OR placed on the vehicle's dashboard, where it is clearly visible to the Department of Public Safety staff. Do NOT place permit on outside of vehicle.

Lost/Stolen Permits:

If your lose or have your permit stolen, report it to a Public Safety Officer in the Student Services Office immediately. There is a $10.00 fee for replacement permits. If a stolen permit is found on another vehicle, that vehicle will be towed.

Changing Your Vehicle:

If you begin driving a different vehicle, you must inform a Public Safety Officer with your vehicle's new license number, make, model, and color. If the Permit number doesn't match the vehicle that permit is registered to, it is assumed that the permit was stolen and the vehicle will be towed.

Physical Placement of Your Vehicle:

For maintenance of the parking area by the Public Safety Officers on campus, students are required to pull into parking spaces. Do not back in or pull through a parking space. Two reasons exist for this policy:

1. It simplifies the checking of parking permits to prevent unauthorized parking on the campus.
2. Many vehicles, especially pick-ups, have a greater length from rear axel to rear end of the vehicle then they do from front axel to front end of the vehicle. Because of this, bumper blocks and curbs are not effective in stopping the vehicle before they do damage to shrubs, trees, buildings, etc.

Vehicles should also be positioned between the parking spaces. Overlapping or double parking is considered a parking violation. Please be considerate of others by ensuring that your vehicle is parked within the lines.

Tow-Away Policy:

Any vehicle without a valid permit parked at Sullivan University will be towed at the owner's expense. Any vehicle belonging to a student, with or without a valid permit, which is parked in one of the following areas also will be towed at owner's expense:

-Disabled area without an issued State Disabled permit
-Future Student space
-Visitor's area
-A fire lane
-On the grass
-In an area blocking a drive or another vehicle
-In a space marked "Reserved"
-Any space marked with a "W" (The Winston's Logo)

Citations:

If you receive a citation and do not pay the fine, you will not receive your grades at the end of the quarter, you will not have a schedule for the following quarter, and you will not be able to receive a copy of your official transcript.

Towing Costs:

If your vehicle is towed, you will be charged $45.00 for the tow costs PLUS an additional $30.00 if dollies are needed to remove your vehicle. Vehicles are impounded at J-Town Towing located at 10105 Taylorsville Road. This facility closes at 5:00pm. If you pick up your vehicle before 5:00 on the same day as impoundment, no storage fees will be charged. After 5:00 PM each day, you will be charged $15.00 per day storage fee. No checks will be accepted. If you have any questions regarding the towing policy, go to the Student Services Office and ask to speak to a Public Safety Officer. Do not go to the Accounting Office or the Receptionist. Directions to J-Town Towing are as follows:
