Chef Akmon named Culinary Chair

Chef G. Allen Akmon is the Department Chairman for the Culinary Arts Programs at the Louisville and Lexington Campuses. Prior to his assignment as Culinary Chair he was the Associate Culinary Chair for the Lexington campus. He also teaches classes at Sullivan University’s National Center for Hospitality Studies (NCHS) in Louisville. Chef Akmon has been teaching basic Culinary Skills and Theory, Garde Manger and International Cuisines at Sullivan University for eight years. [more]


Sullivan Culinary alumni now Executive Chef

The new Hilton Garden Inn in Georgetown, Kentucky took advantage of the talent in Sullivan’s first graduating Culinary Arts class and hired Debora Miller as Executive Chef. She is responsible for all aspects of food and beverage operations and all banquet operations for the new hotel. Debora is also the newly-elected President for the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. [more]

Winston Industries and Sullivan alumni, Corporate Executive Chef Howard Richardson, and Corporate Chef and Account Sales Representative Kent Nanni, performed at the highly-esteemed James Beard House in New York City earlier this year. It was especially eventful since Winston Industries was the first equipment manufacturer association invited to perform at the Beard House, stated Chef Nanni. Our invitation came specifically from a luncheon Chef Howard Richardson and I produced to demonstrate the effect that Controlled Vapor Technology has in increasing the level of quality in foods produced. Chef Tucker Receives the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Community Service Award

Chef Timothy Tucker from the Salvation Army's Center of Hope with President Glenn Sullivan. Chef Tucker is holding both the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Community Service Award. This was the first time in Sullivan's history that a graduate received both awards at the same time. [more]
