In the past, library users had to be in the library to take advantage of the services it offered, but things have definitely changed. As a Sullivan University student at the Fort Knox campus, you can enjoy many of the benefits of the library from the comfort of your own home. You can also use the libraries at other Louisville campuses in the Sullivan University System, which encompasses Sullivan, Spencerian, and Louisville Technical Institute.
From off-campus, you can find and print articles from more than 50 databases: go to
http://library.sullivan.edu/datainfo.html to view our complete list of databases. To access these databases, go to http://library.sullivan.edu/remoteaccesspage.htm and follow the instructions. The complete text of many articles, as well as detailed business and financial information, are all available.
As a student at the Fort Knox campus, you can also contact a librarian and ask research questions. Use the form on
http://library.sullivan.edu/askalib.htm to send an email to a staff librarian. Replies will be sent out within 48 hours, and often within 12 hours.
Keep in mind that you can also speak to a librarian by phone. Library staff members have advised students about research, recommended books, given TurnItIn advice, and helped students use the databases without ever seeing the students face-to-face. If you prefer to work with a librarian in person, you can make an appointment to discuss research, learn to use a database, or get help with other library technologies at the Louisville campus of your choice.
If you’re going to stop by one of our libraries, consider checking out a book. You can check out items from Sullivan, Spencerian, or Louisville Technical Institute using your student ID card. Before your visit, you can access our online catalog,
http://libdb.sullivan.edu/, from any computer with an Internet connection, and see what resources each campus has to offer. Users can even put books on hold over the Internet, but call the library for instruction about this service. Books, videos, and DVD’s can be checked out for two weeks, and you can return them to the Sullivan, Spencerian, or LTI campuses.
