Sullivan Universityıs Baking & Pastry Arts Exhibit at The Kentucky Museum of Art & Crafts |
Students studying Baking & Pastry Arts at Sullivan University learn techniques enabling them to produce magnificent creations which easily pass for works of art. Now, until May 24, 2008, their skill and talent is displayed at The Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft in Louisville, Kentucky.
This is the first time that food art has been incorporated on an equal footing with other traditional art forms, such as sculpture and painting, in a significant contemporary art exhibition at KMAC, stated Brion Clinkingbeard, Museum Curator. The exhibit featured five pieces made from culinary materials, created by students, assistant instructors Amanda Frantz and Rachelle Hyder, and faculty from the Baking & Pastry Arts Program at Sullivan University under the direction of Chef Instructor Derek Spendlove CEPC, CCE, AAC, HOGT, Chair of the program.
Two workshops combining culinary art and visual art are scheduled in conjunction with this exhibition: The Making a Bread Sculpture workshop on Saturday, March 29 and Decorate a Heart Shaped Cake for Mother's Day workshop on Saturday, May 10.
