Dr. Kenneth R. Miller, Jr., Ph.D., ChFC, CSSBB
ASSOCIATE DEAN OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL AND PROFESSOR
Dr. Kenneth R. Miller, Jr., Ph.D., ChFC, CSSBB, is the newly appointed Associate Dean of the Graduate School for Sullivan University. Prior to joining Sullivan University, Dr. Miller was a multi-state regional manager for a Chicago-based, international management consulting firm charged with business development and owned The Westminster Company, a privately-held financial services company that specialized in retirement and pension distribution strategies for public employees. He also served as the Chief Policy Analyst for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as a Research Associate with the Center of Business & Economic Research at the University of Kentucky, and as an adjunct faculty member with both Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. While with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, he directed a highly publicized investigation into the investment management practices of Kentucky's two largest retirement systems—Kentucky Teachers' Retirement and Kentucky Public Employees Retirement Systems. His research on cash, pension and investment management has been featured in a variety of publications including Pensions & Investments, Bloomberg News, Investment Management Weekly, The Lexington Herald-Leader, and The Louisville Courier-Journal. Dr. Miller was also the Executive Editor of Financial Services Advisor, a well-respected magazine for financial professionals.
He is an alumnus of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and the University of Kentucky, where he received a Ph.D. in 1995. His Chartered Financial Consultant designation was awarded by The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He earned a Six Sigma Black Belt designation from Villanova University and most recently earned a Master's Certificate in Supply Chain Management from the University of San Francisco. Dr. Miller holds or has held memberships in the Society of Financial Services Professionals, the Academy of Management, the American Society of Quality, APICS, the American Society of Public Administration, and the American Statistical Association. In his limited leisure time, he enjoys reading, exercising, riding his motorcycle and strumming on his mountain dulcimer. Married, Dr. Miller and his wife, Jill, reside in Lexington Kentucky with their four dogs, two cats and two birds.
