LEXINGTON CAMPUS CELEBRATES CONSTITUTION DAY
On Wednesday, October 1, Sullivan University’s Lexington campus celebrated Constitution Day, which commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, recognizing all who are born in the U.S. or by naturalization have become citizens. This holiday is typically observed on September 17, but due to the break between quarters, Student Life postponed the celebration until students returned to campus.
Chris Corcoran was the guest speaker and shared that the U.S. Constitution is a document of compromise that set the rules for American government. He also touched on how the constitution continues to live today, and how Sullivan students can get involved in government.
Corcoran is an expert in data-driven cities, having previously worked for Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s New York City Office of Data Analytics. Corcoran’s background includes work in management consulting for energy clients and corporate strategy for two high-tech startups. A native of Danville, Corcoran received his bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College. He currently serves as a senior advisor to Mayor Jim Gray in Lexington.
