Biography

Dr. Coronel received a B.S. in Medical Technology from Santo Tomas University in Manila, Philippines in 1978 and a Masters Degree in Diabetes from the Institute of Studies for Diabetes Foundation in Philippines. She obtained her Ph.D. in endocrinology in 1991 from the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. She obtained her M.D. from Cebu Doctors' College of Medicine in Cebu, Philippines in 1982 and later completed her Internal Medicine residency. Dr. Coronel attributes her several years of medical experience in the treatment and management of alcohol and chemical dependency to the time she spent working at Jefferson Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center (JADAC), a subsidiary of Seven Counties. Dr. Coronel was most recently a faculty member at Spencerian College and while in that capacity, she was an active book reviewer for several medical book publishing companies. Besides being busy with responsibilities as faculty as well as a self-employed associate physician in the Louisville medical community, Dr. Coronel is also actively involved in research in the area of diabetes treatment and has had a study published in the Philippine Journal of Internal Medicine.
