Dr. Chris Hughes is the department chair for the Justice & Public Safety program. His dissertation, “Reducing the incarceration of the homeless: An examination of multi-service use and the utilization of institutional services,” examined the benefits of using community-based therapeutic services to reduce incarceration and hospitalization among the homeless in Louisville.  Dr. Hughes serves on Sullivan University’s institutional review board. He is a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, Southern Criminal Justice Association, and American Society of Criminology. His research interests include criminological theory, social deviance, criminal behavior, juvenile delinquency, white-collar crime, mental illness and substance abuse.
