Dr. Deanna Siow

General Education

Ph.D. – University of Louisville
Postdoctoral scholar – University of Louisville
Dr. Deanna Siow is conducting research aimed at determining how sphingolipids are regulated in the context of both drug-resistant cancer and childhood asthma. While these life-threatening conditions seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, they have in common a malfunctioning lipid regulatory system.  Being able to understand these defects at the molecular level will aid the development of more effective treatments.

In addition to the daily challenges of biomedical research, Dr. Siow enjoys teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Her favorite subjects to share with her students include Anatomy & Physiology, Cellular Biology and Biochemistry.
