Clery Report

Sullivan University Campus Security & Crime Awareness
Annual Report
2003, 2004, 2005

This report is published in Compliance with the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act."

Annual Notice:

It is the policy of Sullivan University to inform prospective and current students and employees about campus security at a time prior to entry of classes or employment.  Current employees and students will be notified at least annually thereafter.

University Policy:

Any and all criminal actions detected during operating hours must be reported to the Sullivan University Public Safety Department.  A member of the Public Safety Department or a Senior Administrator in the absence of a Public Safety Officer will assume responsibility for documenting and responding to the situation.  Public Safety Officers may be contacted in the public safety office or through the building receptionist.  Criminal actions detected after normal hours should be reported directly to the Louisville Metro Police at 502-574-7111 and the contract security guard on duty.  All crimes, including sex offenses, should be reported immediately.  All complaints will be investigated in a prompt, impartial and confidential manner.  Local law enforcement authorities may be involved if necessary, or if the victim or individual reporting a crime requests law enforcement involvement.  Sullivan University supports the enforcement of all local, state, federal laws and University regulations and will cooperate with appropriate law enforcement agencies during enforcement/investigatory activities.  Warning reports will be made to the campus community in a timely manner when it is determined that doing so would reasonably prevent similar crimes.   Warning reports will also be issued if a crime or pattern of crimes represents a threat to any member of the campus community.

Illegal Drugs, Alcohol, Sexual Assault:

University policy states that no student, employee or guest may possess, use or sell liquor, weapons or illegal drugs on campus.  Weapon possession is allowed for those who are required to possess weapons for employment purposes, such as police and public safety officers.  Liquor is only permissible as it may be used in a formal teaching environment.   See the Student Handbook, the Sullivan University Faculty and Staff Manual and The College and You Uniting Against Drug Abuse pamphlet for more information.  These publications are available in the Student Services/Public Safety Office and contain information on the Institution’s Sexual Assault Policy.

Public Safety/Security Staff:

Sullivan University maintains public safety or contract security staff on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Public Safety/Security Personnel have felony arrest authority as described in KRS 431.005. (4).

Reported Crimes:

In compliance with the relative legislation, Sullivan University reports campus and housing crime statistics each year for the last three years.   Main campus statistics only are included in this report.  There are no procedures for the filing of anonymous crime reports or complaints that would render inclusion within this report.

Personal Safety:

Individuals should always remain aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious or odd activity to a member of the Public Safety Staff.  Furthermore, the University affirms the right of each individual to protect themselves against imminent danger.  Educational seminars are available on various safety and security issues through the Public Safety office.  Questions regarding this report should be directed to Jay D. Marr, M.A., Dean of Students, Sullivan University, 3101 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY  40205.
