SULLIVAN TO SPONSOR THE KENTUCKY DERBY FESTIVAL ACADEMIC CHALLENGE

Sullivan University is pleased to present this year’s Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation Academic Challenge in partnership with the Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation and Jefferson County Public Schools.

The quick-recall tournament, which is returning to the Kentucky Derby Festival after a five-year hiatus, will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at Male High School.

“The Academic Challenge event has always been a great way to showcase the academic achievements of not only our local students but also our public schools,” said Mike Berry, Kentucky Derby Festival President & CEO. “We’re excited to have it returning to our event schedule in 2015.”

The Academic Challenge is an excellent opportunity for students from all over the county to test their knowledge of math, science, social studies, language arts and humanities. The competition will feature 28 teams from local middle schools and a total of 300 students.

“Sullivan University is pleased to sponsor the Academic Challenge,” said Glenn Sullivan, President of Sullivan University. “We often look for ways to support events that encourage and celebrate academic achievement. We wish all the participants well in the tournament and in their future endeavors.”

The top eight schools will receive trophies, and the champion and runner-up will also receive monetary awards. This event is free for spectators. For more information contact Jamie Gibson at 502.485.3492.
