WHY SULLIVAN UNIVERSITY SYSTEM IS MERGING ITS THREE SCHOOLS INTO ONE

Sullivan University System is merging its three educational institutions under the common name of Sullivan University. The Sullivan University System board of directors voted unanimously to merge Sullivan University, Sullivan College of Technology and Design (SCTD) and Spencerian College, according to a news release.

Glenn Sullivan, president of the Louisville-based, for-profit university, said in the release that conversations about a merger had been going on for “well over a decade” and that the merger would benefit students and graduates.

Sullivan University CEO Jay Marr will manage the merger and lead staff from all three entities to complete the transition. Marr said in an emailed statement that the merger will help “portfolios of programs to work together, develop synergies and complement one another by increasing opportunities for inter-professional education.”

Specifically, Marr said, business, IT and logistics degrees offered by Sullivan University also will be able to connect with SCTD programs in advanced manufacturing and other skilled trades programs.
