Education: University of Louisville - Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, STEM Education; M.A. in Teaching, Middle and Secondary Education; B.A. in Mathematics; minor in PhysicsDr. Terri Tinnell received her PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Louisville in 2021. Her research foci includes STEM Education, methods of Assessment & Evaluation, and retention of STEM students across the P-20 spectrum. She has 15+ years of experience as an educator; ranging from teaching grades 8-12 coursework in mathematics, physics, and engineering, serving as master teacher and curriculum designer for Project Lead The Way, chairing multiple career and technical program evaluations for various Kentucky school districts, teaching various teacher preparation courses for the University of Louisville, and implementing various STEM programs for an array of school districts and community partners across Kentucky. 

Dr. Tinnell holds a Master’s degree in teaching and learning and a Bachelors in mathematics and physics from the University of Louisville. She also has a background in chemical engineering, with manufacturing experience as production project manager and Lean Six Sigma green belt. Dr. Tinnell currently serves as a reviewer for the International Journal of STEM Education, Frontiers in Education, and Applied Measurement in Education. Dr. Tinnell’s motivation to persistently pursue educational advancements in STEM comes from her supportive family. Her hobbies include outdoor activities with her family, reading as much and often as possible, and discovering new cuisines with her husband.
