Biography:

Kristen Young is a 2001 graduate from the University of Georgia, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received her MS in Physician Assistant Studies from A.T. Still University. Her love of competing horses, combined with a great job offer as a hospitalist PA, brought her to Kentucky. Kristen quickly realized she loved the challenge of helping critically ill patients recover. She then transitioned into Cardiothoracic surgery, where she spent most of her time in the open heart recovery unit, taking care of post surgical critically ill patients. She then expanded her knowledge into all aspects of critical care, joining a pulmonary / critical care team, working as an intensivist in a variety of ICUs (medical, surgical, transplant, cardiac, neuro, etc). Throughout the way, Kristen’s background in EMS, kept her interested in emergency medicine, where she has worked throughout her career on a part time basis. Kristen started teaching at Sullivan as a guest lecturer in 2015. Her passion for helping create phenomenal future PAs, grew into an adjunct position. She enjoys teaching both the didactic students, as well as taking on clinical year students in rotations.
