Gardiner Point Residence Hall

All About Gardiner Point

Gardiner Point Residence Hall, formerly a hotel, was renovated in June 2010. The rooms are extremely large, furnished, and have plenty of space for personal items. Each room also has its own full bathroom. In addition to the rare size of the student rooms, there is a state of the art dining facility with outdoor eating space available. The Dining Room provides various food options including a hot food bar which changes daily, a grill, a salad bar, and a sandwich bar. In addition to the vast food selection in The Dining Room, Gardiner Point also has an on-site convenience store which sells many food items and school supplies. Other amenities include a student lounge, study areas, wireless internet, a mini-movie theater, parking, a heated pool, and a “Live and Play” center. This center is essentially a recreation area which includes ping pong and other table sports, a fitness center with a yoga/dance room, a video game room, and lounge areas with TVs. This area is just a glance away from the glass-wall laundry room, so students can enjoy it while waiting for their clothing. Take a look at the Gardiner Point Photo Gallery or take a Video Tour to see more.

Each student is given an access key card upon signing their lease. This key card grants students access to the building, the hallways, and is also their room key. Should a key card be lost or stolen, it will be deactivated for safety purposes.

Gardiner Point has a full-time maintenance and custodial staff to maintain facility upkeep. This staff works directly with students and staff to promptly meet their needs which are determined through an online work-order request form. There is an online suggestion box available to residents. The Housing and Residence Life Staff receives these suggestions and follows up whenever possible to better the residence hall according to student wants and needs.

The Department of Housing and Residence Life is open Monday -Thursday (8 am- 5 pm) and Friday (8 am-4 pm). Housing and Residence Life Staff members are available by appointment during office hours. The residence hall also houses two professional staff members, who help students and guests after office hours through an on-call process. The residence hall also has Resident Assistants (RAs) who are available 24/7 in case of an emergency. Each student is assigned an RA based on their hall assignment. RAs are trained in First Aid and CPR and are trained in mediation as well. They are well equipped to handle a wide range of issues that could arise during a student’s stay at Gardiner Point.

A resident must be a full-time student (taking at least 12 credit hours)

Undergraduate residents must be under the age of 24 in order to move into the hall. (Should a student turn 24 while living in the hall, they will be permitted to stay, but must abide by the same policies as all other residents as stated in the Housing Manual.)
