Message from the Provost

As the chief academic officer, it is my honor and privilege to lead the exceptional facility and academic staff of Sullivan University. Since 1962, we have served our community as a career-focused institution of higher learning. The faculty and staff are committed to the success of our students and the future employment of our graduates. The Office of the Provost, academic leadership, and the faculty are committed to teaching excellence, student engagement, career-focused curricula with industry input, scholarly activities, and life-long learning.

As stated in our institutional mission, the faculty “understand and use active, collaborative, experiential, and problem-based learning strategies,” no matter the delivery method. Sullivan University has robust, student-centered residential programs and support, but also maintains a variety of online learning opportunities which aligns with our mission. Not only are some programs and courses available fully online or even in a hybrid format, but all students can engage virtually with their faculty, academic advisors, and tutors, providing them with even more flexibility for support and encouragement.

The curricula, running from certificate to doctoral degrees, not only provides a theoretical foundation of what is required today but focus on what industries need from our graduates in the future. Through active advisory committees, community involvement, university-wide faculty professional development, and real-world activities, the faculty prepare our students to gain the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed to be successful in their chosen career fields of employment.

Our institutional commitment to career and life-long learning is actualized as we encourage our graduates to take advantage of working with our exceptional Career Service team, as well as the ability to refresh by auditing a course previously completed. Our university-wide “I Care” philosophy demonstrates our commitment to our students and our graduate’s career success.

I am thrilled with your interest in joining our family. I look forward to meeting you now and at graduation.

Warm regards,

Dr. Diana Lawrence

Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost
