College of Hospitality Studies

On March 26, Chef Mac McBride and Culinary student Morgan Black from Sullivan University’s Lexington campus presented an edible art class at the Jessamine County Public Library. The demonstration prepared participants for the Bluegrass Edible Book Festival on Saturday, April 5.

During the class, the duo used fruits and vegetables to create a number of different items, from fish to swans to flowers. In addition to demonstrating different techniques, Chef McBride and Black invited participants to try some of the techniques on their own. The Bluegrass Edible Book Festival featured a contest to take a favorite book, quote, scene, character, etc. and turn it into something edible, like a cake or a snack.
